About Us
Alsuraya, the Arabic name for the Plejades constellation, carries deep significance in Egyptian seafaring history. The stars of the Plejades have long been used by sailors for navigation, guiding ships safely across the vast waters of the Red Sea and beyond. This celestial reference embodies guidance, adventure, and the connection between humanity and the mysteries of the sea. Naming the liveaboard Alsuraya honors this legacy, blending the wonders of the cosmos with the rich maritime heritage of Egypt.

My name is Helmy Hashim, and I warmly welcome you to my country and the breathtaking underwater world of the Red Sea!
1998
Originally from Cairo, I have always been captivated by the Red Sea and dreamed of a life at and on the sea. In 1998, that dream became a reality when I earned my PADI diving certification in Sharm El Sheikh. The vibrant underwater world and stunning coral reefs inspired me, leading me to become a PADI Instructor in 2003 and advancing to managing a large diving center.
2008
My passion for diving and sharing the beauty of the Red Sea culminated in the founding of VivaSub in Marsa Alam in 2008, a diving center dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences. The joy in the eyes of both beginners and experienced divers when they explore the depths and marine life motivates me to continuously enhance the experience we offer. My greatest joy is that divers spend their best vacations with us and create unforgettable memories.
2024
Beyond managing diving centers and a liveaboard, I enjoy underwater photography, especially capturing moments with divers, sharks, turtles, and tiny marine life.
